In line with Earth Day celebrations worldwide, SM Supermalls—all 68 in the country—will hold a recycling activity this weekend.

The Trash to Cash recycling market will be held in malls with hopes to promote the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle practice by engaging community and households in proper waste disposal and management.

This mall activity aims to highlight this year’s Earth Day theme “Green the Cities, Green the Oceans,” which seeks to change human attitude and behavior about plastics. Through these community initiatives, a vision to significantly reduce plastic pollution is realized by engaging stakeholders in proper waste segregation.

Trash to Cash happens on April 21 from 8 AM to 2 PM in SM City Cagayan de Oro and SM CDO Downtown Premier.

SM has institutionalized Trash to Cash program as show of support to the government in its implementation of RA 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000) and also by providing alternative solutions that deal with solid waste issues/concerns.
