The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Misamis Oriental – Cagayan de Oro Chapter is slated to recognize the blood donors – both individuals or company and organizations for their unwavering support to call for Voluntary Non-Remunerated Blood Donations (VNRBD).

“Our last blood services recognition was in 2013 and yet we did not forget the efforts and activities of our donors. So many events have happened in our city and our province like the calamities and various disaster responses, coupled with our completion of a 2-storey building which houses our blood bank and our training facilities, hence this coming October 19, 2018, from 1pm to 8pm at Grand Caprice Restaurant in Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City, we will recognize more than 300 personalities”, Atty. Antonio “Tony” Soriano shared.

Atty. Tony, the Chairman of the Board of the Misamis Oriental – CDO Chapter is also an elected Governor of Philippine Red Cross National Governance chaired by Senator Richard “Dick” J. Gordon.

“As part of the Blood Donor’s Month celebration, every year has been declared as such, in pursuant of Presidential Proclamation No. 1021 dated June 1997.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Be There for Someone Else, Give Blood, Share Life”. Our blood donors share their time and effort to come and give the gift of life”, said Dr. Christine Gumahad-Pelaez, the Manager of the Mindanao Regional Blood Center (MRBC).

She added: They played a key role in helping us provide adequate, safe and quality blood supply to all patients needing blood transfusion.

“Our recognition will cover for the calendar periods 2014-2017, spanning 11 award categories including “Testimonial Award” which recognizes companies or organization for organizing Mobile Blood Donation (MBD) campaigns for 10 straight years and amassing more than 1,000 bags of blood”, Dr. Alma Bella Roxas, an elected board director and a volunteer physician who spearheaded the awarding preparations with Dr. Pelaez.

Bombo Radyo – Cagayan de Oro, Magnum Radio 99.9 FM and Department of Education Region 10 are the only recipients of the Testimonial Award for periods 2014-2017.

“More than Blood Services, which is usually the most prominent area in Red Cross movement, we have other services that cater to the needs of the general public as well as to develop the volunteerism skills and spirit of our donors and would be volunteers – these are Safety Service, Welfare Service, Health Service, Red Cross Youth, International Humanitarian Service, Volunteer Service and Disaster Management Service”, Mrs. Nancy Joy Tolinero, the Chapter Administrator enumerated.

Department of Education – 10 Regional Director Dr. Arturo B. Bayocot will be the Keynote Speaker and will share extensively how his department came out with the very successful “Dugong Guro” Blood Donation Program.

The Chapter Staff and Volunteers did all they can to keep in touch with the awardees for their presence and confirmation. A dedicated page for the listing can be viewed at www.facebook.com/PRCCDO.

For those whose names are on the list haven’t gotten their invitation letters, they may drop by at the chapter and get it from the Reception Area.
