Iligan City — Mayor Celso Regencia and former police chief Senior Supt. Leony Roy Ga filed a case against Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Timoteo Pacleb.
In a phone interview yesterday, City Information Officer Jose Pantoja said the case was filed before the Office of the Ombudsman last Friday for “Grave abuse of authority.”
He said the case was filed after the meeting among Regencia, Ga, and Pacleb late last week.
Pantoja explained that the case is in connection to the “sudden” replacement of this city’s city police director Senior Supt. Manuel Sukarno Alvarez.
In can be recalled that Pacleb replaced Alvarez with Senior Insp. Rene Solidarios without the knowledge of the city officials.
To dramatize their reaction against the replacement, the city pulled out the patrol cars with the mayor saying that the cars will be returned if Alvarez would be returned too, “immediately.”
Pantoja then later said the cars were just “inventoried” and not really pulled out as earlier reported. This is to see to it that these are all in order before giving them back to the police.
