ILIGAN City — Through Executive Order No. 54, series of 2019, Mayor Celso G. Regencia designated Ma. Charisse I. Regencia as Officer-in-Charge of the City Tourism Office in addition to her duties as Private Secretary.
The executive order provides that tourism contributes to the economy as it provides direct employment and other sources of income.
It also added that the City of Iligan has been negotiating for projects with some national agencies to promote and improve the City’s Tourism which needs to be closely monitored by the Office of the Mayor.
It was learned that the City government has not created the position of City Tourism Officer in its plantilla of regular positions.
It was also gathered that in the past, regular employees were designated as Tourism Officers at the pleasure of incumbent Chief Executives.
This recent order of the Chief Executive is an innovation as it would place regular tourism employees under the supervision of a confidential and co-terminous rank and file employee, it was said.
