Due to the limited space at the Office of the City Election Officer, the City Office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has scheduled the registration for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections starting this Friday, July 15 to Saturday, July 30 at the 2nd floor, Lingkod Pinoy Center, Robinson’s Mall, Limketkai Complex, this city.

The almost two weeks scheduled registration would include Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 8 am to 5 pm.

Acting Election Officer Atty. Gina Luna B. Zayas-Sabio said they considered the short period of time given by the Comelec head office, “we are expecting an influx of registrants, which is why this office is changing its venue since our office at Burgos-Cruz Taal Sts., couldn’t accommodate the expected registrants due to the very limited space.”

For a faster accomodation of registrants, Zayas-Sabio added, they would start releasing priority numbers at 6 am at the Robinson’s Mall Car Park.

Under the Comelec Resolution No. 10148, “Rules and Regulations for the Registration of Members of Katipunan ng Kabataan and Registration of Voters for Barangay Relative to the October 31, 2016, Sangguniang Kabataan and Barangay Elections,” the applicants for SK shall be at least 15 to 17 years old. They are required by this office to bring an original and one photocopy of their NSO Birth Certificate and identification.

For the applicants in the Regular Elections, they should be 18 years old and above and they should bring any valid ID (i.e. government issued IDs, company IDs and etc.) or proof of billing.

“For this upcoming Barangay and SK elections, there will be no transfer of registrations. The office will only accommodate the applicants for registration, reactivation, change and correction of entries; and inclusion, reinstatement of records in the list of voters,” Zayas-Sabio said.

She added that the City Comelec Office at Burgos-Cruz Taal Sts., will be closed during the registration period.

“The request of issuance of Voter’s Certification will be accommodated at the mall,” said Zayas-Sabio. (Lynyrd Aleksei N. Corrales, City Comelec)
