Kapuso stars Ken Chan and Rita Daniela visited Cagayan de Oro on August 31 to promote their first-ever primetime project “One of the Baes”. Ken and Rita are teaming up for ‘One of the Baes’, a millennial fairytale that will take viewers on a special journey. Produced by GMA Public Affairs, it will showcase the ups and downs of Filipino Seafarers through the story of Jowalyn (Rita) and Grant (Ken).
Grant is a rich yet kind-hearted environmental Vlogger while Jowalyn is a brave young woman who dreams of someday becoming the captain of a ship. After being positively received by viewers from her blossoming role in “My Special Tatay”, Rita Daniela who has been in the entertainment industry quite some time now mentions that this was her most challenging role physically.
The exercises that were being handed out to the cast were really from the training on becoming a true to life seafarer. Ken Chan who is coming from a brilliant performance of a special child turned to father and husband says that this role is a welcome addition to his career. Having a 2 week off from the country, traveled to Bali and New York, (by himself) certainly helped him moved on from his previous role and molded the character of Grant. The star-studded teleserye is set to be shown this September of 2019.

One Of The Baes also sees the stellar ensemble of veteran actors Amy Austria, Melanie Marquez, Roderick Paulate, Tonton Gutierrez, and Jestoni Alarcon. Joining the Ritken couple as well are James Teng, Kenneth Medrano, Archie Alemania, Joyce Ching, Edgar Allan Guzman, Buboy Villar, Maureen Larrazabal, and Rodjun Cruz.
GMA Regional TV once again made the Higalaay Festival a celebration to remember as they brought with them the stars of One of the Baes and had a mall show last August 31. Fans were also in for a treat as the station brought along Global Endorser Gabbi Garcia of the new drama-action series Beautiful Justice which is set to premiere this September 9 after 24 Oras on GMA Telebabad. The series also has star power as it features multi-talented actress and entrepreneur Bea Binene and 32nd PMPC Star Awards for Television Best Drama Actress Yasmien Kurdi.
GMA Regional TV Vice President and Head Oliver Amoroso says that “The Kapuso Network has been participating in Cagayan de Oro’s biggest festival every year as their way of thanking their loyal viewers here. We are grateful to Gabbi, Rita, and Ken for giving us their time and reaching out to our Kapuso in Northern Mindanao.” Last August 24, Amoroso also served as one of the judges at the Miss Cagayan de Oro 2019 held at The Atrium of Limketkai Center. Together with him as a judge were Kapuso actor Tonton Gutierrez, renowned Filipino fashion designer Renee Salud, and Mutya ng Pilipinas-Asia Pacific International 2018 Sharifa Akeel.
