PHILIPPINE National Shooting Association (PNSA) president Michael “Mikee” Romero has high hopes that their sole representative Brian Rosario can bring home the elusive 1st gold for the Philippines in the Olympics.
Rosario, together with eight other Filipino athletes will vie for gold in the London Olympics from July 27 to August 12 this year.
Romero made the statement during the weekly-PSA forum in Manila.
The 29-year-old Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) gold medalist will be training a month in London before the start of the Olympics to help him familiarize with the environment.
“It will be a different atmosphere in London” said PNSA vice president Gay Coral.
Romero also confirmed that they will have former Spanish National team member Miguel Tajuelo as the new coach of the Philippine Team after it was approved by the Philippine Sports Commission.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) that allowed them to use the Electronic Shooting Range.
According to Romero, the use of Electronic Shooting Range is of great importance, “Nakakapag-adjust ung mga shooters kasi nakikita mo yung target mo.
Among the other athletes to vie in the Olympics include Olympian Eric Ang, Frances Nicole Medina, Jayson Valdez and Celdon Arellano.
“Definitely itong mga batang ito and the next generation ay kayang magdala ng gold sa country. These guys can, kaya nila. I believe in them,” he said. PNA
