The Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) now seeks for a bigger impounding area for impounded vehicles due to traffic violations in the city.

RTA Overseer Verneer Monsanto said he has observed that clamping vehicles are not effective to those who violated traffic rules since they can just get claim their vehicles once they have paid for the clamp removal even if they still have not yet paid their violation, the reason why their vehicle was clamped.

Mas maayo ang towing kay dili man nila makuha gikan sa impounding area ang sakyanan kung dili nila bayaran ang ilang violation plus magbayad pa gyud sila og storage fee,” Monsanto said.

In line with this, Monsanto urged RTA Assistant Department Head Engr. Nonito Oclarit to look for a space for the impounding area so that the impounded vehicles will not be damaged while the owner has not yet claimed the vehicle.

It has been noted that the current impounding area is very small and it is now fully occupied by the impounded vehicles which were not yet claimed by the owners until today. (cio)
