This was stressed by Councilor Enrico Salcedo, chair of the City Council committee on environment and natural resources, as he called to all barangay officials for support and coordination for the installation and implementation of Material Recovery Facility (MRF) within their respective barangays.

It may be recalled that the Department of Environment and Natural Resources- Environmental Management Bureau informed City Mayor Oscar Moreno that the DENR funded P6 million for the construction and operation of 16 units of MRF with support equipment and additional funding support in the amount of P475,000 for three MRFs of three barangays.

However, EMB-10 said the compliance of the requirements for the project is only until July 29.

The recipients of the proposed 16 units of MRF are Barangays Patag, Kauswagan, Iponan, Balulang-Upper, Balulang-Lower, Canitoan, Bayabas, Lumbia, Baikingon, Consolacion, Macabalan, Agusan, Cugman, Balubal, Camaman-an and Bugo.

For three other MRFs are Barangays Indahag, Carmen (Macanhan), and Pagalungan.

During the meeting, Salcedo suggested the Clenro to coordinate with the barangays in looking for suitable area for MRF. (sp)
