COUNCILOR Enrico Salcedo yesterday called for the resignation of all the directors of the Cagayan de Oro Water District over the board’s decision to boot out the utility’s general manager Engr. Rachel Beja.
Salcedo also sought a copy of the COWD board’s notice of dismissal against Beja.
Salcedo proposed that the city council make a stand and officially call for the resignation of the five-person COWD board of directors.
The COWD board is chaired by Eduardo Montalvan and composed of lawyer Mateo Delegencia, former provincial board member Soc Anthony del Rosario, Concepcion Quiblat and Dr. Hilly Roa Quiaoit.
But the city council opted to refer Salcedo’s proposal to its committee on public utilities chaired by Councilor Teodulfo Lao Jr..
This early, Lao expressed approval of Salcedo’s proposal, saying the COWD board had no sufficient grounds to dismiss Beja.
“Gawas kung addict ang manager, kana dunay ilang rason sa ilang pag-dismiss kang Beja. Pero ‘lost of trust and confidence’ lang dili pa kana igo nga rason,” said Lao.
