ILIGAN City — Congressman Frederick W. Siao of the Lone District of this city recently filed House Bill No. 3944 which seeks to convert Iligan City National School of Fisheries into the Iligan City Polytechnic State College.

Siao said that conversion of the school into a polytechnic state college will widen its curriculum and address the needs of the growing student population in the city and adjoining provinces and municipalities for an easier and affordable education.

The Iligan City National School of Fisheries was formally established on May 4, 1973 by virtue of Republic Act No. 4625.

Siao explained that in its more than 40 years of existence, the fisheries school has provided educational opportunities to the youth which has given its alumni gainful employments.

He also said that recently the ICNSF has emerged as one of the top model schools for the Senior High School (SHS) curriculum of the “K+12 Program” of the Department of Education. (Frank E. Dosdos, Jr.,  Nora Soriño, and Sita Asequia)
