Iligan City — Rep.Frederick Siao of  the lone district of this city yesterday said he is filing a bill obliging members of congress and other government officials to commute going to work. This is at least for once a week, every Monday each week.

This, following the reported challenge to Secretary of the Justice Menardo Guevarra last week to commute on his way to work last week, of which the latter declined.

Siao said he will  immediately file this particular bill once  congress resumes next month.  He added that the traffic problem in the country, specially in Metro Manila is terrible. Thus, with his bill, if it becomes a law, would somehow reduce the enormity of the traffic situation, specially in Metro Manila. Specially during rainy days, he said.

Representatives number 300 people, he added. Add to that the senators, he said, then the   secretaries, the undersecretaries, the assistant secretaries, and the heads of offices. Adding them all up, there would be about 2,000 or maybe 3,000 vehicles on the road. This reduces the traffic situation in Metro Manila.

They can either take the LRT, the taxis, the buses, whatever public transport available for them. And that includes himself, he added.
