Iligan City — The lone district representative of this city has filed a bill which provide for the creation of a district engineering office separate from the current engineering district office of the Department of Public Works and Highways, Verne Padilla from the office of Rep. Freddie Siao told the Gold Star Daily over the weekend.

Padilla said Siao observed that one DPWH office serving the first district of Lanao del Norte and the lone district of the city could not delay civil works in both the province and the city.

“It is necessary that there must be a separate district office for the Lone district in order to expedite services especially that the present leadership wants infrastructure projects done fast,” Padilla cited Siao as saying.

Based on the data of the Philippine Statistics Authority, as of August 2016, the population of this city is pegged at 342,618 individuals in its 44 barangays.

The current Second Engineering District Office which serves Iligan city and the lst District of Lanao del Norte is understaffed and thus, infrastructure programs have been delayed.

Siao’s House Bill 2431, if approved, will add a separate office for the city that aims to expedite infrastructure programs and projects which will focused on the city only. (Nora Soriño)
