Iligan City — The supply of illegal drugs in the city has been considerably reduced now, this city’s top cop said.
In a statement to media yesterday, Police City Director, Leony Roy Ga said their assessment on the supply of illegal drugs coming into the city has decreased.
The police here, Ga added, are continuously monitoring all the barangays specially the ones notorious for distributing illegal drugs.
To note, barangay Saray had then led in the drug dealing business, followed by Tambacan with the others not exactly drug-free.
Last year, at the height of the administration’s fight against illegal drugs which the police had led before it was turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, they had embarked on a “quota system” whereby quotas of tokhang were given to police officers to come up with.
In the process, several persons involved in drugs, like users, pushers, dealers, and others were arrested, even as a few barangay officials were reported to be killed which the public believed to be drugelated.
At the height of the war on nearby Marawi City, evacuees were warned not to take their businesses that are drugelated to this city.
Ga added that their next move would be to make this city a drug-free city.
