The municipal police office identified the cargo truck, with Plate Number RJZ 991, as owned by one David Tan of Barangay Poblacion, Tagbina town but registered under the name of Ramon Abad of 5 Star Argo Company with address at Andaya Compound, this city.

Police said the cargo truck loaded with 400 pieces of falcata logs was torched by ten armed men suspected to be NPA members in a secluded area of Tagbina which is 37 kilometers away from Tagbina town proper.

Police  estimated the damages to be about P1.7 million.

Meanwhile in another Surigao del Sur town, Carmen, mayor Antonio Borda, Jr is now desperately seeking the national government and the military for help in dealing with the recent attack in his town allegedly committed by the communist dissidents.

During tribal gathering of the indigenes in Car-men recently, “Kahi-munan,” re-electionist mayor Borda said he is one with the people in condemning the most recent attack of the Maoist combatants in Sitio Gacub, Barangay Hinapuyan.

He said last October 28, lumads in Sitio Gacub, Barangay Hinapuyan witnessed NPA combatants conducted a “Boka,” a ritual usually done by tribal warriors before launching an attack.

The following day, NPA rebels abducted their former member.
