COUNCILOR Ramon Tabor yesterday said the Padayon Pilipino still sees indications that either of the city’s two congressmen or both would join next year’s mayoral race against Mayor Oscar Moreno and ex-mayor Vicente Emano.

Tabor said the city could witness a four-cornered fight for the mayoral post despite pronouncements earlier made by Reps. Rufus Rodriguez of the 2nd District and Rolando Uy of the 1st District that they would support Moreno’s reelection bid.

Tabor, who has declared that he would run for congressman in the 2nd District, told local radio the Padayon Pilipino has continued receiving reports that suggest Rodriguez and Uy have set their eyes on the mayoral seat.

He said a three-cornered or even a four-cornered fight was likely, and the Padayon Pilipino is prepared for it.

“The reports that Rodriguez is running for the mayoral post is getting louder,” Tabor said.

He said the Centrist Democratic Party (CDP) has been holding orientation meetings from one barangay to another “pero wala pa gyu’y pronouncement coming from Congresman Rufus.”

Rodriguez is the head of the CDP.

Tabor said it would be much of a challenging for his party, the Padayon Pilipino, to see the two congressmen running for mayor.

“Wala na’y kumpyansa karon. Ang sayop sa milabay nga eleksyon amo na nga gibantayan. Kadtong mi-support kang Moreno last election dismayado na. This is history in the making,” Tabor said.

In a text message to this paper, Mayor Moreno said it was not difficult to understand why the Padayon Pilipino was prodding Rodriguez or Uy or both to run.
