DIGOS City ― A laborer sustained multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body after unidentified gunmen fired several shots at him on Tuesday evening in Davao Oriental.
P/Major Butch Kevin Rapiz, Lupon, Davao Oriental police chief in a spot report released to the media narrated that at about 9:20 pm on June 6, Richmond Rosales Alferes, 21, was just sitting at the back of a tricycle parked along Aguinaldo Street when he was mercilessly shot by the gunmen.
Alferez, a resident of Purok Don Juan Quiñones, Barangay Poblacion in Lupon was hit on the right eye and different parts of his body during the attack, the police report said.
He was rushed to Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital in Lupon town but attending physician Dr. Maria Dorife Arat pronounced him as dead on arrival.
Bystanders told police investigators; Alferez was sitting alone in the back seat of a parked tricycle when two individuals, apparently male wearing hooded jackets passed the area where they heard the gun-bursts.
The gunmen quickly left the crime scene in an unknown direction, the report said.
Crime scene investigators recovered one bullet slug, a live bullet of a .45 caliber pistol, and five empty shells of .45 caliber ammunition.
Major Rapiz said they are conducting an intensive follow-up investigation as to the identity of the attackers and the motive behind the killing of Alferez.
