BARANGAY 33 chairman Conrad Lim has signed a document that allowed the public works department to demolish a fence he built on a reclaimed property in Lapasan, so that the government could finish a coastal road project started years ago.

The document was signed on Aug. 10, according to Vinah Maghinay, spokesperson of the Department of Public Works and Highways  in Region 10.

Workers of Equi Parco Construction Co. wasted no time and immediately cut through the controversial property that was on the way of the major road project.

Government officials said the property is part of the Lapasan foreshore that was developed by Lim through reclamation, and as such, it is public domain.

Maghinay said she could not say if there was an agreement between Lim and the DPWH.

“Dili pa nato masulti kon gi-expropriate ba o wala ang iyang property kay kana nga issue tu-a pa man sa among legal office. Basta ang atong gi-target karon nga kana nga dalan mapassable na gyud sa November,” Maghinay said.
