Supt. Erwin Kenny Ronquillo, city jail warden, said this is yet again a positive development that can be attributed to the strict implementation of security checks and monitoring of inmates and stringent search on visitors as well.

Meant to flush out contrabands from the facility, around 50 jail officers with elements of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-10) and their K9 units conducted the greyhound operations earlier this week concentrating at Building 1 of the three major buildings of the male dormitory. A number of nuisance items were seized during the operations.

This is in line with the nationwide “Oplan Linis Piitan” campaign of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology to ensure every BJMP-manned facility is clear from any contraband items, particularly contraband items, particularly illegal drugs.

“More than anything, this is to check if there is still a presence of illegal activities inside the jail,” the warden said.

Ronquillo said unauthorized items like ballpens, spoons, matches, woods, nails, wires, playing cards, and pirated discs were confiscated, which are considered minor and insignificant contrabands. (bjmp x)
