The Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) is set to launch an ambitious campaign to have a more orderly traffic condition in the city dubbed: “Tsada Traffic” with the vision of “Ang Traffic sa Cagayan de Oro Mas Tsada Pa Sa Davao og Cebu.”

RTA overseer and Task Force Hapsay Dalan (TFHD) chairman Atty. Jose Edgardo Uy told Gold Star Daily that they are re-conditioning the effort of the local traffic enforcers to obtain new targets in solving the worsening traffic condition in the city.

Atong gi-summarized ang tumong sa RTA nga mao ang hapsay dalan. We had this ambitious target nga kung makuha nato kini wala na unya’y problema sa traffic sa Cagayan de Oro,” he said.

Uy said in the coming months and with the entry of new members in the city council, he is positive that the RTA can get a budgetary support from the local legislative body.

He said with the implementation of the new traffic scheme in Cagayan de Oro City, dubbed initially as “Tsada Traffic.” The program will have engineering, manpower and educational aspects which would help instill road discipline through deployment of more traffic personnel and aggressive education program.

“We are positive nga ang among programa masupportahan tungod kay dili lamang kini gitumong alang sa hapsay dalan o sa pipila apan alang sa tanan,” he said.

Uy said if the new set of officers in the city council is bound to serve the public to its fullest level then there are no reasons that they would not approve RTA’s budgetary request for the 2016 Executive Budget.

He said one of the re-engineered task for the new program is to implement traffic laws on its full force that includes request for additional traffic enforcers and mobility for the RTA.

Makuha ta ang budget for next year 2017 then the program would be completed. It’s simply that nga tsada ang trapik, ultimately at par with those in Davao and Cebu. We will need time to do it but it’s doable,” he added.

The task force is still sourcing the funds needed to make the program sustainable at about P60 million for the engineering and enforcement.

About 200 additional personnel to manage the traffic and 20 more motorcycles with riding enforcers including night patrol units are also required to effectively implement the program.

Uy challenged the motorists and pedestrians alike to take part in the implementation and follow what has been implemented to avoid penalties and other sanctions.

“Let’s do our share as road users. A simple way of doing it is to avoid parking at the travel lane and in prohibited areas. Self discipline among motorists will also help a lot,” he said.
