The victim, who used to work as a house help for Maj. Albart Tare, survived the gun attack carried out by two still unidentified men on a motorcycle while she, her mother and another female companion were waiting to take a public jeepney. The victim had just come from the Hall of Justice where Tare was indicted in connection with a case for acts of lasciviousness the teenager filed.

Col. Robert Roy Bahian, police director for Misamis Oriental, issued a memorandum order that placed Tare under camp restrictions on Wednesday.

Bahian said his purpose is to make sure that Tare would always be available for questioning by investigators handling the case on the attempt on the life of the major’s accuser.

“Ako siyang gi-relieve para dili niya ma-influence ang investigation,” Bahian said.

Bahian also canceled Tare’s 10-day leave of absence. The major had gone on leave Monday, but Bahian’s order meant he should report to the provincial police office in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.

Tare was immediately replaced by Capt. Danilo Calurasan, but he would serve as an officer-in-charge of the provincial police office’s operations division.

Bahian said Tare, who is now on “floating status,” would be restricted to the police camp until investigators conclude their investigation into the shooting of the teenager from Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.

During the period, according to Bahian, Tare would remain unarmed at the police office’s holding section.

Bahian said “camp restriction” does not mean detention but every time Tare leaves the camp, he has to ask permission and return to the custody of the Misamis Oriental police office.

Carmen police investigators under Maj. Ian Borinaga have started an investigation into the Tuesday gun attack near the Hall of Justice, and are trying to identify suspects and to determine their motive.

Tare’s name surfaced because the acts of lasciviousness case the teenager filed against him before the 22nd branch of the Regional Trial Court here was the reason why she was at the crime scene.

Over Magnum radio, Tare said he did not mastermind or had anything to do with the shooting of his teenage accuser.

Tare told local radio: ”Wala ko gabuhat ana. Kon ibutang ta lang naa koy plano, definitely, dili karong panahona nako na hilabtan. Kung na-a man gani, ngano man? Toyo-on gyud lugar nako’g pasugo og pamusil or akoy mamusil nga kahibalo man ko nga moturo ra gihapon sa akoa. Mora man ug utak ni Juan nga theory kon ingon ana. Malabo kaayo.”

Tare said the pregnant teenager wouldn’t have survived if he pulled the trigger.

“Kung manablahay ko, kon akoy gabuhat ana, di gyud na maingon ana. Kay kon na-a koy buhaton, I will do it passionately. Binogoy na nga estorya, di na mabuhi kon akoy gatrabaho ana,” he said.

Tare also said he is ready to face the victim’s family if they pressed charges against him in connection with the shooting if they think that he was behind the gun attack.

He then dared the family of his former house help: “Go ahead, file a frustrated murder or a homicide complaint against me. Let us do a legal battle. Tubagon na ko na.”

He then gave Cagayan de Oro police investigators this unsolicited advice: ”Ang una nila buhaton, they have to apprehend the gunman, and recover the instrumentation, and from there, mo-extract sila’g information sa gunman nga ako ang nagsugoPero dako pa kana nga awayonon. I-establish na pud kung na-ay conspiracy ana, between me and the gunman.”
