THE bickering between Mayor Oscar Moreno and Rep. Rufus Rodriguez of the city’s 2nd District has turned from bad to worse, and has reached a new low.
The two warring politicians traded barbs over the weekend with Moreno calling Rodriguez a blabbermouth, and the latter admitting that he brought to President Aquino’s attention his beef against the mayor.
Moreno said Aquino personally told him on Wednesday about how Rodriguez tried to discredit him a day earlier in Malacañang.
“Matud ni President PNoy nga si Rufus nagsumbong kaniya nga dili kuno kami kontra, nga, kuno, gida-og da-og ko ang city council, ug, kuno, akong gi-ataki ang Bangsamoro Basic Law,” Moreno said.
Rodriguez, for his part, said he met with Aquino in Malacanang on Tuesday, and complained about how Moreno has been blaming him for the dismissal order issued by the ombudsman against the mayor.
“Akong gi-ingan ang Presidente nga ako na man hino-on ang gi-accuse ni Moreno nga nagpa-dismiss kaniya, nga dili man kana tinood,” Rodriguez said.
He said he also told Aquino that Moreno’s group has always been criticizing the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).
Rodriguez, chairperson of the House Ad Hoc Committee on the BBL, earlier said he opposed many provisions in the proposed law and had it renamed.
“So morag nahimo kita nga sumbongero,” said Rodriguez.
He said he also told the President that he would support the presidential bid of Liberal Party candidate Manuel Roxas II and his running mate Rep. Leni Robredo.
“Nalipay sad ang Presidente nga Roxas ug Robredo ako,” he said.
Rodriguez was among the 150 congressmen who were invited by Aquino in Malacanang last week to seek their support for the proposed Bansamoro law.
The following day, Aquino and Moreno met during the Integrity Summit at Shangrila Hotel in Manila where the President supposedly disclosed to him everything that Rodriguez said about the mayor.
Moreno asked: “My God, how can he lie and come up with that version nga dili kami kontra? Grabi gyud ka bakak, ang iyang sumbong sa Presidente kay ako na hino-on ang nagdaog da-og sa city council, ug nag-ataki sa BBL. Kanus-a gud nako gidaog-daog ang city council, ug kanus-a nako gi-ataki ang BBL nga wala man sukad?”
