The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) region 10 invites all skilled workers who have not taken the competency assessment and certification to apply now for a free assessment at the Cagayan de Oro Bugo School of Arts and Trade (COBSAT), Bugo, this city.

A nationwide activity, TESDA together with COBSAT held on 31 July 2015, a Synchronized National Free Assessment where a total of 54 skilled and existing workers, trainers, assessors and returning Overseas Foreign Workers (OFWs) were assessed for free.

According to TESDA Regional Director Edgar Sales, the National Certificate (NC) from TESDA gives a huge impact to the worker because it is now one of the requirements of the employers. Further, he said that this is part of the mandate of the government to alleviate poverty, equip workers and provide jobs.

Meanwhile, Dr. Eulogio Pancho Sullano Jr., COB SAT Vocational School Administrator said that the assessment is composed of three stages particularly written, demonstration and interview. He added that a number of companies allowed their workers for this Synchronized National Free Assessment and will also send more in the coming days. These are workers that have been practicing their skills but have not acquired any certification yet.

The sectors included in this free assessment include automotive and land transport, garment, construction, metals and engineering, and tourism. Qualifications include Driving NC II, Automotive Servicing NC II, Dressmaking NCII, Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, Carpentry NC II, Plumbing NC II, Masonry NC II, Construction Painting NC II, Scaffold Erection NC II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II, Housekeeping NC II and NC III, Food and Beverage Services NC II, Front Office NC II, Bartending NC II, and Bookkeeping NC II.

Applicants must go their nearest Assessment Center or TESDA provincial office and bring accomplished application form which can be downloaded at www.tesda.gov.ph and bring three pieces passport size pictures (with collar shirt/blouse, colored and white background (not scanned), photocopy of birth certificate and photocopy of certificate of employment.

Free assessment runs from 31 July 2015 up to 31 August 2015. (tesda 10)
