WE unequivocably and wholeheartedly join the wish, reported in media, of a mother whose child was alleged to have been killed in the war against drugs by the Duterte government, that all drug-related killings should be made to end right away.

We also unite with her in her expressed desire for relatives of the others who are said to have been victims, too, of President Duterte’s drug war, to speak up.

But, so that the death of the mother’s son (or even the deaths of all others who are also claimed to have been killed in the ongoing war on drugs) would not be in vain, the grieving mother and the families of the other victims should endeavor to rise above mere wishes, and instead collectively pursue and successfully achieve a more important objective for them all, which is, exerting their very best to go back to God, by reading and meditating (or studying), and then obeying, God’s commands in the Bible.

I am saying this because I can no longer see other solutions to the problem on illegal drugs in the country.

Indeed, the fierce and deadly war on drugs by President Duterte did not really solve anything.

If the truth be told, the continued proliferation, use, and sale, of illegal drugs hereabouts had not abated, even with the killings now known the world over, rather infamously, as “tokhang.” If we seriously think about it, the battle against drugs has been lost irretrievably even before it began.

Truly, the time has now come for all of us to admit that Duterte, the Philippine National Police and the other agencies of government, and the millions and millions of government funds that have already been spent in the campaign against illegal drugs, did not amount to anything. Every endeavor humanly possible to stop the drugs menace, it appears to me, has miserably failed.

The reason for this perception is clear. Illegal drugs continue to proliferate. Many still distribute the pernicious substance. Many still are hooked on illegal drugs. Many still profit handsomely from them.

The conclusion is therefore inevitable: pinning our hopes in combatting drugs on mere humans had been useless and fruitless, and Digong’s term will be ending in 2022 but the problem would remain as deadly as ever.

I believe that what we need, right now, is God’s intervention and action, nothing more, nothing less!

But will God act, or help, so the Philippines’ problem on illegal drugs can be stopped?

I can hear many already saying in retort: if God is minded to help, He should have done it already before, considering that many have been seeking His hand for a direct action on the drugs problem in the country.

Yet, God appears not to have shown any help yet. Proof is that, happy days continue umolested for those who deal with drugs in the Philippines!

Now, why does God appear to be uninterested in solving our country’s drugs problem?  Well, because many Filipinos unfortunately wallow in abject ignorance of the secrets by which God condescends or agrees to help those who pray to Him.

The prevailing thought, erroneously implanted in their minds by preachers and religious leaders who didn’t know God’s Word any better, is that, simply praying or professing faith would already do the trick.

But Jesus, our God and Savior who is God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, clearly mandated or decreed in Matthew 7:21 that not all who simply pray or call on Him “My God my God”, or “My Lord, my Lord,” would be listened to by God, get His favorable reaction, or would be allowed to enter His Kingdom in heaven. Jesus imposed conditions that must be strictly complied with, for His favorable or beneficial response.

These conditions must be kept and dutifully remembered in the hearts and minds of, and must be obeyed sincerely by, all Filipinos who seek a definitive and successful finis to the illegal drugs problem. These conditions are easily available in many verses of the Bible, but more particularly, in Matthew 7:21 and Deuteronomy 28:1-2. I enjoin everyone to read them. If there is a problem understanding them, I can be reached, for some discussions, at the numbers and email address written below. Thank God in His Name of Jesus, Amen!
