The Philippine Madrigal Singers popularly called as Madz has performed in Cagayan de Oro City last ___ when Capitol University invited them for a concert for their 50th anniversary. Everyone in the concert was in awe at how Madz has given life and perhaps magic in each song they have performed.

The Philippine Madrigal Singers was founded in 1963 by the late Professor Andrea O. Veneracion, one of our National Artists. Since that time, it has become one of the world’s most awarded choirs, having consistently won all the top prizes in most of the world’s prestigious choral competitions: Arezzo and Gorizia in Italy, Marktoberdorf in Germany, Spittal in Austria, Neuchatel in Switzerland, Tours in France, Varna in Bulgaria, Debrecen in Hungary, and Cantonigròs, Tolosa and Torrevieja in Spain. It also carries the distinction of being the first choir ever to win the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing twice (1997 and 2007). Now, under the direction of Mark Anthony Carpio, the ensemble continues to perform a wide repertoire of various styles and forms: Renaissance music, Classical music, Filipino and international folksongs, contemporary and avant-garde music, opera and even popular music. Their specialization and focus on the madrigal idiom have inspired their unique set-up of singing while seated in a semi-circle, without a conductor.

Now here is your chance to watch them perform live via the benefit concert on November 16. Tickets are now available at P400, P600, and P800. For ticket inquiries, please call 088 8562832 local 7101 or visit the CU Alumni Office at Capitol University. You may also call 09953555872 or 09350291066. The proceeds of the concert will be for the scholarship program of the CUAA.

Be amazed, be prouder than ever and be mad about Madz.
