An Oplan Tokhang yielder found dead inside his home on July 21 in Purok 1, Barangay de Oro, Butuan city just a few hours after he voluntarily surrendered to barangay and police officials.

PO2 Violeto Pepito Jr. of the Butuan city Police Station 4 identified the victim as Cristituto Uyua, 49.

Initial investigations showed the victim recently turned himself in to authorities and voluntarily surrendered under the Oplan Tokhang and confessed that he has been using the illegal substance for a year.

According to the victims close relatives Uyua might have done more than just surrendered they speculated that the victim also told authorities who his suppliers and fellow users and is seen to have placed him in danger and may have cost him his life.

Witnesses say after Uyua’s surrender, some still unidentified individuals followed him home and later was found dead succumbing to two lacerations in his neck.

Uyua was the fifth Tokhang yielder in Caraga region to have been killed during the government’s massive anti-illegal drug drive.
