THE traffic aide in a viral video on Facebook about a delayed ambulance has been grounded.

Benedicto Ramiro, spokesman of the Roads and Traffic Administration, said the move came even as traffic aide Lee Bersano was directed to submit a written explanation of the incident at CM Recto Ave. and Osmeña Street last week.

In the video, Bersano was seen arguing on the side of a road with Alvin Carlos, driver of an ambulance that was supposedly rushing a dying patient to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center on Saturday.

Ramiro said Bersano was given 24 hours by RTA chief Nonito Oclarit to submit his written explanation.

He said the traffic aide would not be fielded back to the streets until after an administrative investigation has been concluded.

Ramiro said investigators have asked Carlos to give a statement that would then be compared to Bersano’s explanation.

He said the findings would then be submitted by investigators to a RTA committee and the human resources office of city hall.
