A WOMAN was crushed while her five-year old son was badly hurt when a truck ran over their motorcycle on a highway in Gusa, this city, at 9 am yesterday.

PO2 Marsha Echeveria identified the fatality as Roselyn Dayola of Barangay Cugman. She was an employee of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Echeveria said Dayola was driving the motorcycle with license plate KC-74306 while her son was riding at the back when an oncoming yellow truck hit them near Villa Ernesto Subdivision. Dayola was headed to downtown Cagayan de Oro from her home.

Echeveria said they were still trying to determine how the accident happened.

Police said the truck is owned by Edwardo Trucking Services, and it was driven by Allan Belim.

Belim surrendered soon after the accident at the Agora police station.

Echeveria said Belim would be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, injuries and damage to property.

Dayola’s body was brought to the Bollozos Funeral while her son was rushed to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center. The boy was rushed to the hospital by a concerned taxi driver. (nitz arancon)
