MISAMIS Occidental’s and Bukidnon’s police directors are among the six officials in the list of nominees to the position of Cagayan de Oro police chief, said Councilor Romeo Calizo over the weekend.

It was unclear how Calizo learned about this, but the councilor is the chairman of the city council’s police committee.

Calizo said two of the candidates are Col. Danildo Tumanda, acting provincial director for Misamis Occidental, and Col. Benedictor Pintor, Bukidnon’s police chief.

Camp Alagar has still withheld the names of the nominees in the list that, according to Calizo, would be submitted to Mayor Oscar Moreno today.

Based on the rule, the police would submit a list of nominees, and then the local chief executive picks one.

Calizo revealed that Moreno has already talked with Tumanda and Pintor on separate occasions.

He said the mayor would likely choose an official who is known to be “very aggressive” in the police service.

The position of city police director was left vacant following the death of Col. Nelson Aganon last week. Aganon, 46, died in a hospital here 13 days after a motorcycle accident during a police training at Camp Evangelista.
