Two years of Radical

Last Sunday, October 6, 2019, at the Rosario Pavilion, Limketaki Mall, Cagayan de Oro City, Radical Church celebrated its 2nd year anniversary with the theme Celebrating 2getherness. I got a chance to talk to the Senior Pastor of Radical Church who is also a Motivational Speaker and Life Coach Pastor Janssen Torredes and asked him some questions. 

After two years of Radical Church, what are the things that Radical is thankful for? “These past 2 years God has been so faithful and gracious in sustaining and growing His church.  We are grateful for the opportunity to minister and help people follow Christ.  

Indeed, this is God’s work and not men.  We have nothing to boast and brag about this ministry because it is all about His faithfulness and grace why we are here as a movement. Currently, God has opened a door for us to collaborate with City Scholars office headed by the Mayor’s office and Ms. Richel Petacurin.  Oro Scholars is a CdO Government program that provides a full scholarship to students and helps them fulfill and build their dreams in life.  It has been a great opportunity to walk alongside the students and provide Leadership and emotional support. It has been an awesome opportunity to inspire, motivate, and realign students with their perspective about success, the purpose of their pain and trials and God’s direction for them.  

Just recently, I was invited by another University to talk to their students about Bullying and depression. Depression and Bullying have been rampant nowadays especially among students.  We are there to support and provide students’ insights on how to overcome bullying and depression.  Nowadays, mental health is no longer an individual struggle but a social issue. We as a church will provide Spiritual, Mental, and Emotional support to those who are struggling deeply.

“What are the programs of Radical Church that gives impact to Cagayan de Oro? “Radical Church has been called by God to preach the Gospel of grace and advance God’s Kingdom to every sphere of influence- Government, Business Community, Family, Media and Arts, Medical Fields, Churches, and Campuses.  We are intentional in disciplining people from all walks of life and help them fulfill their God-given purpose.  One of our Crown Jewels as a Church is to reach students and young people for Jesus.  

We focus on disciplining students to honor God with their own personal life, uphold integrity and academic excellence.  We also provide emotional support and coach them to develop or cultivate their God-given talents. Our Campus Ministry is called Impact Campus. Impact Campus helps students to become champions in every part of life.  Our youth leaders are dedicated to disciple, train, and empower students to disciple others.  

We are there to help the youth of today shape their values, change their thinking and their cultural Mindsets and background.  Discipling students are not easy;  It requires dedication, unbridled passion, and more grace and love.  We also provide Connect groups for students. A Connect Group is small group discipleship that talks about God’s grace and goodness provide a safety net for wounded and traumatic people in the church.” Cheers to Radical Church and for many years ahead in bringing radical change to Cagayan de Oro, you can visit them every Sunday at the Rosario Pavilion, Limketkai Mall on their first service at 9:30 am and their second service at 11:30 am.
