GINGOOG City Vice Mayor Peter Unabia wants the support from line government agencies be delivered directly to the Gingoog Bay Alliance (GBA) as this could help strengthen the alliance which is composed of four towns and a city in the eastern part of Misamis Oriental.

“Any support from the provincial government and line national agencies should be delivered directly to the GBA,” Unabia said during the GBA executive meeting and election recently.

Unabia wants the GBA as a center of development.

“With the intervention of the provincial governor [Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano] the support should not delivered only to one municipality of the alliance, it should be delivered for the alliance,” Unabia pointed out.

The GBA executive officers shall discuss this, Unabia added.

Unabia said Rep. Christian Unabia can talk to the Bureau of Fishery and Aquatic Resources and other government agencies for this purpose.

City Mayor Erick Cañosa has favored the city vice mayor’s proposal as he also planned to build a hospital in Gingoog.

“We plan to build our own hospital in the city to serve the people not only from Gingoog but also in the neighboring towns of Magsaysay, Medina, Talisayan, and Balingoan and to the entire constituents who belong to the alliance’s areas,” Cañosa said.

For his part, Magsaysay town mayor Rey Buhisan said the alliance should not focus only on the activities within the coastal area.

“It should also focus on health, agriculture, peace and order within the alliance’s area,” Buhisan added.

Meanwhile, Talisayan Mayor Romnel Maslog, GBA Chairman said the alliance is planning to regulate the use of the waters in its area with an existing local project for each municipality-member.

Atong i-regulate arun atong mga fisherfolk dili magpatakag pangisda sulod sa mga proyekto sa matag munisipyo,” said Maslog.

Maslog suggested regulating the use of the waters in the area after Mayor Donato Chan of Medina reacted on possible implication regarding the fisherfolks fishing in the area who not residents from the town within its local project.
