VALENCIA City – The City Government of Valencia is one step closer in achieving the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award as the National Validation Team from DILG-Regional Offices will recommend the city to be part of this year’s official list of awardees.

Ms. Yvette C. Tolentino-Sunga, Provincial Director of DILG Davao Oriental, announced during the evaluation’s exit conference that together with her team, they will endorse the city government to be part of the final selection for the SGLG Award due to its improved performance and service delivery.

Sunga said that their endorsement is the second to the last step for acquiring the SGLG Award as it is still subject for approval to the Secretary of Interior and Local Government, through the Undersecretary of Local Government.

Valencia City Mayor Azucena P. Huervas expressed her gratitude for the chance to once again be named as an awardee for SGLG.

“We are very glad as our efforts to provide quality services to our people were paid off, Huervas said adding that the city government will continue to exercise good governance.

The validation team also gave credit to City Councilor Policarpo P. Murillo IV, M.D, for his good and effective presentation of the city’s accomplishments.

Ms. Amalia A. Propia, City Local Government Operations Officer, highlighted that such accomplishments were made possible due to the dynamic leadership of the city mayor together with the city officials and department heads and for their being responsive to the programs of DILG.

Valencia City is a consistent awardee of SGLG and this year the city is trying to bag the award once more.

The Seal of Good Local Governance is an award and incentive program of the DILG for performing local governments, to encourage and challenge them to improve on their performance and services delivery set across the core areas of Financial Administration, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection, and any of the essential areas namely Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Peace and Order and Environmental Management.

The National Validation Team were composed of Ms.Yvette C. Tolentino-Sunga, Team Leader and Provincial Director of DILG Davao Orienta,l Mr. Orle A. Cabaobao, Outcome Manager of DILG Davao Oriental, Ms. Catherine N. Pogusa, LGOO V of DILG Davao del Norte, and Janeth I. Toroba, LGOO II of DILG Davao Oriental. (Aron Apolstol Rempohito)
