VALENCIA City, Bukidnon – Valencia City Nutrition Committee successfully spearheaded the Nutri-Family Run in celebration of the 42nd Nutrition Month with the theme “First 1000 Days ni Baby Pahalagahan para sa Malusog na Kinabukasan” on July 27, 2016 at the City Hall Covered Court, City Hall Compound, Valencia City.
The members of CNC organized the fundaising event for the procurement of additional iron supplements with folic acid which is intended for pregnant women in the city.
Ms. Beverly Mangubat , RND, Asst. Nutritionist-Dietician of CNC said that through such activity, the shortage of the iron supplements will be addressed and the much needed nutrition will be provided for the pregnant mothers.
Vitamins and minerals such as Iron are vital during pregnancy as it is also the stage where the child starts receiving nutrition from the mother.
The event started with a zumba dance which also served as a warm-up for the participants.
Several prizes were also given to the winners who garnered an award such the top racer and top family fun runner. A raffle draw was also facilitated where winners received gift packs field with nutritious grocery items.
The City Government of Valencia through the City Mayor Azucena P. Huervas, Chairperson of the City Nutrition Committee pledges to continue supporting the plans and programs of CNC.
The celebration of nutrition month aims to achieve significant changes in reduction of malnutrition among children during their first 1000 days.
