His companion, a still unidentified woman, was nowhere to be found inside Room 48 of Q7 motel  (formerly Queensland).

Authorities identified the man as 43-year-old George Mendez of Zone 10, a vegetable trader at the market in Bulua.

Motel staff members said Mendez was unconscious but still gasping when they opened the room at around 9 am.

He was rushed to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) where he was pronounced dead.

His common law wife Elpe said she was unaware of Mendez’s whereabouts until the motel staff called her up.

She said inside the room were two Drive Max male-enhancement supplement capsules and an empty Lipovitan energy drink.

Mendez, according to Elpe, had suffered from diabetes.

She said Mendez left their house at around 9 pm Thursday, and she had thought he would be buying vegetables.

It was learned that Mendez and a woman checked in at around 10 pm Thursday.

“Ang akong concern karon mao ang identity sa babaye para ako siyang mapangutana nganong gibyaan niya akong bana nga galisud na sa pag ginhawa,” said Elpe, adding that she requested the motel staff to go over the establishment’s CCTV recording.
