Gusto nako nga mahimog drug free ang Misamis Oriental, ma-o nang gusto  nako nga mag-chairman sa Committee on peace and order, kon walay among membro sa provincial board nga mo-handle niini nga Committee,” said Pelaez.

The Provincial Board, Pelaez explained, is composed of 13 members. The number of members include him and one representative each from the Philippine Councilors’ League and Association of Barangay Councils.

Pelaez said he wants to expand the services on education in the province, reason that he also wants to head the committee on education. Before entering politics, Pelaez used to serve as a top ranking official of the Department of Education.

However, Pelaez said there is no law obligating him to chair any committee in the Provincial Board. But this does not disallow him to head a committee either.

Ang vice governor dili man obligado mo-handle og committee chairmanship, apan wala usab did-e sigon sa bala-od,” he said.

Pelaez said their first order of business when they hold session on July 4 will be drawing up a new set of house rules.

Amo man nga gi-adopt ang old house rules during sa  incumbency ni former  vice governor Norris babiera, so sa new set-up sunod bulan sa Sangguniang Panlalawigan we need to change our existing house rule, considering nga na-a na man poy bag-ong  member sa  provincial board,” he explained.
