WHOEVER they are, whatever their organizations are, they are volunteers for Duterte, and picked one name as a whole: CDO-Misor Duterte for President (Movement). They were to hold a press conference at South Winds Hotel to answer questions on why they are for Duterte.

The gun ban that commenced on Sunday probably signals the beginning of the campaign period for national positions. Thus, we can expect lots of political activities all over the country.

Traditionally, money and machinery matter, but not always. So far, if the news is accurate, all presidential candidates have been spending hundreds of millions with Duterte tailing the others. But I would like to believe–although I am sure that my statement will get another rebuke–that the case of Duterte is different from the others.

When people are the ones asking a person to run, then the people will vote for their candidate no matter what. That makes Duterte’s case unique. The clamor didn’t come from the locals alone but including those who are out of the country. Never in the history of the Philippines when the clamor is being echoed as it is today.

The clamor is made more pronounced by volunteerism.

One good example can be gleaned from those who support Rep. Rufus and Maxie Rodriguez. They know the Rodriguez family is for Mar Roxas. But these very same people are for Duterte. They organize this CDO-Misor Duterte for President (Movement) by digging into their own pockets. And they are just one of the many spread all over the country.

Yes, our small group of less than 10 people is part of it. And we will have our own kind of volunteerism activity to be announced soon.

Politics divides people. It makes friends of enemies and enemies of friends although it doesn’t have to be that way. But there is no need to engage in hot discussions. After all, your ballot is yours and yours alone. Let us start our respect for each other from that.

I was asked about the demonstration at the Court of Appeals. My answer: let the court decide and respect their decision no matter how unpopular or even if its against your wishes.

If Mayor Oscar Moreno gets removed eventually, then it is his own doing. If not, the remaining months are not too long for us to wait. I am not blood-thirsty. But I do want to see guilty people get punished as mandated by our laws.

Besides, the honorables at the CA will never put their reputation at risk for whatever reason. Otherwise, it’s not just them but also their families.

Perhaps, I missed it from the national dailies. But there are talks about the supposed Abad-Binay negotiations. About what? It’s not really difficult to get the answer. But he who loves to play with fire gets his fingers burned.

Whatever is the agenda of this administration, it will configure in the next few months. Let’s all sit back, wait and watch.
