WHAT is Zaldy Ocon doing at the city council? He appears to be only after his own popularity and aggrandizement that he now looks like one of the clowns in that supposed august body.
He is supposed to be the guardian of the environment as the chairman of the environment committee.He boasted in the past of going after the committee president for doing nothing and for allowing illegal mining to proliferate in the hinterland barangays of the city.
Has he pursued anything against that boastful and loudmouth committee president? No, because from where I sit, it was all for show.
Did he consult the city’s environment chief, Edwin Dael, before he (Ocon) gave the green light to the reported six-megawatt power plant in Tablon? Does he think he knows better than Dael?
Did he receive anything of value from the proponents of the power plant and readily believed the statement of the lawyer of the corn products company that the power plant will not use coal for operation?
What is his credentials with respect to the environment issues? His microphone?
This new clown-cilor need not enlist himself among the current clowns in that supposed august body because he has always been a clown anyway.
Cagayan de Oro’s Clenro head, Edwin Dael, was even reported as saying,“The Clenro has not issued an environmental clearance. So why did the city council approve the social acceptability sought by the Cagayan Corn Products?”
