GINGOOG City–A woman died protecting her three-year old son when they figured in a motorcycle accident on a road in Catuan, Barangay Lunao here on Thursday afternoon.
SPO1 Michael Maestrado identified the woman as 33-year old Ronalyn Maglangit of Talisay, this city.
Maglangit hugged her boy in order to shield him, and then her head slammed against the concrete road, said Maestrado.
She and the boy rode at the back of a motorcycle driven by Maglangit’s partner and her son’s father Leonard Daguplo, 32.
Maestrado said Daguplo tried to get ahead of a Cagayan de Oro-bound truck at the time while an oncoming bus was moving towards the direction of Butuan. He said Daguplo lost control, and the motorcycle crashed at full speed.
Maglangit was declared dead on arrival at a hospital while her son was transferred to a Cagayan de Oro hospital.
