A WOMAN died while four others were injured after a public bus accidentally crashed into their jeep in Initao, Misamis Oriental on Wednesday.
Senior Insp. Arlene Ranario, Initao police chief, identified the fatality as Andresa Sabado, an Initao resident.
Sabado and her relatives were bound for a cemetery to attend a funeral when the accident happened at around 3 pm.
Ranario said the vehicle’s driver was maneuvering a very steep portion and then lost control of the jeep.
“Nahuros pabalik ang sakyanan nila padulong sa highway ug timing pag-agi sa bus. Mao tong nabanggaan,” Ranario said.
Ranario said the Cagayan de Oro-bound bus was not overspeeding when it crashed into the vehicle.
Residents rushed the victims to a hospital where Sabado subsequently died as a result of her injuries.
Ranario said Sabado was thrown off by the impact. The four other victims only sustained minor injuries.
