The vendor, Rene Ecain, was found at fault by Task Force Hapsay Dalan chair Jose Edgardo Uy who conducted an inquiry at city hall yesterday. The inquiry was made after a video recording of the Monday commotion at Cogon was uploaded on Facebook.

Uy said Ecain attacked and bit 28-year old traffic law enforcer Jay  Camilotes after he and another RTA worker reprimanded the street vendor.

The street vendor, according to Uy, used his “trisikad” in setting up and selling on Capt. Vicente Roa St. before 5 pm which is against city hall rules. Street vendors are not allowed in the area during certain hours.

Uy said an angry Ecain then attacked and hurt Camilotes.

Uy said Ecain and his wife apologized to Camilotes when they met face to face at city hall yesterday. He said Camilotes accepted the apology and withdrew his complaint for direct assault against Ecain, prompting the Cogon police to release the vendor from detention. (nitz arancon)
