“This Holy Eucharist is offered for the eternal rest and quick dispensation of justice on the killing of our colleague, Gexie Ray Ungab,” reads an invitation sent out by the department.

Ungab was a graduate of Xavier’s philosophy program, and then taught philosophy both in the senior high school and college.

He was also a Xavier law student.

The 23-year-old Ungab was tortured, killed, and found dumped in Marawi City last month, days after he went

missing. The victim’s legs were riddled with bullets, he was demasculinized, and stabbed at least 18 times.

Authorities said the family of the young Tagoloanon has been receiving threats of more harm from people who told them not to seek police help. The family has collectively decided not to press charges to avoid trouble.
