XAVIER University’s Kinaadman: University Research Office (Kuro) yesterday identified the major issues and concerns of Cagayanons based on a survey it conducted in early April.

During a public presentation, Kuro deputy director and survey project leader Astrid Cinco said the major barangay-level issues were about city’s peace and order, basic services, environment, economy and local governance.

Cinco said the top concerns were illegal drugs, illegal parking of trucks and other vehicles, traffic jams, and theft and robbery under peace and order.

The survey results, according to Cinco, also showed that drainage problems, lack of water supply and then roads topped the concerns on basic services.

The survey results also showed the top three environmental concerns in the city: waste management, sanitation, and cleanliness of seashores, rivers and creeks.

The top economic concerns, according to the research group, are on employment and livelihood or income-generating projects.

Corruption in the city level, implementation of barangay ordinances, and corruption in the barangay level were the main issues under the local governance, said Cinco.
