It has been an enigma to many Mindanaons how infrastructures, property, livelihood and even lives vanished after a series of earth-shattering shocks reverberated across Mindanao.

A team of XU’s formators and staff went to Makilala, North Cotabato and conducted a Rapid Disaster Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) last month. Nestor Banuag, Jr. Director of the Student Social Involvement and Advocacy Program, led the mission together with his team: Zaira Mae Dehing, Meiyoshi Masgon, William Repulo, Faith Elvie Silmonet, and Dennise Gonzales.

During the mission, XU did not work alone. There were several groups and institutions that coordinated with XU for relief assistance of the internally displaced persons and in managing disasters.

In another development, The response for #XUTabangTulunan Call for Cash Donations has been overwhelmingly positive through every individual’s support. Xavier University continues to hope for a positive response with its Toy Collection Drive that will run until Dec. 11. The toys collected will be brought to the area during the next mission trip on Dec. 12-13. (xu comms)
