An electric cooperative in Zamboanga is first to sign up and take advantage of a renewable power plant being built in Bukid-non, the signing of the bilateral supply contract between AboitizPower and the Zamboanga del Norte Electric Cooperative (Zaneco).

The signing ceremony Wednesday was for an initial 5 MW that will come out of the 68.8 MW Manolo Fortich run of river hydro power plant project being constructed by Aboitiz Power subsidiary Hedcor in Bukdnon. The power plant is slated for completion in 2017.

AP First Vice President Rochell Donato Gloria also reiterated the company’s commitment to sustain the growth of Mindanao.

“We are here not only to support the growth of Mindanao economically, but also sustainably.”

“Our area is short of power, and with this supply we hope to solve our problem, this time through renewable energy,” Zaneco board president Jesus Eduardo Tayrus Sr., said. (pr)
