By LITO RULONA Correspondent A POLICEMAN is in hot water after he was accused by a 15-year old teenager of molesting her inside the Agora police station while she was being detained because of a robbery complaint. The teenager, who sought the help of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Region 10, identified the officer as SPO2 Jose Jay Yap III, driver of a police car. According to the complaint, the teenager was detained at Agora police station in Barangay Lapasan in June 10 for allegedly stealing from her employer in Barangay 27. She alleged that Yap allegedly offered to help her in exchange for sex. The complainant also alleged she was brought to a room where the officer allegedly fondled her privates. She said she refused to give in, and later confided to her mother. The complainant’s mother said she complained to Agora police station chief Insp. Ernesto Daing. While Daing started looking into the complaint, she said they were advised to seek the help of other law enforcement groups. The mother claimed the suspect apologized but she added that her family was bent on pressing charges. PO3 Rose Caudor said she started an investigation, and Yap denied the allegations. Caudor however said she found out that Yap and the complainant were alone in the police station in the evening of June 10 because other officers went on field because of a call for assistance in Barangay Lapasan. “The complainant was not inside the detention cell considering that she was still a minor but she was detained [and was] under police custody...” she said.
