CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Commuters and motorists in Cagayan de Oro are being asked to expect temporary route adjustments as the city rolls out a one-month dry run of its revised traffic code aimed at easing road congestion.
City officials met with the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) to review the implementation of the traffic scheme, particularly along the eastbound and westbound provincial routes.
The month-long trial will allow the city to evaluate how the new traffic flow works and identify improvements before full implementation.
Officials said the dry run also supports the proposed amendment of the city's traffic ordinance, which has been in effect for more than 18 years.
The city acknowledged that some passengers may need to adjust to changes in their usual routes but stressed that the measures are intended to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow—not make travel more difficult.
Authorities appealed for the public's patience and cooperation during the trial period, saying feedback from commuters, motorists, and transport operators will help refine the traffic management plan.
The city government said the initiative is part of its continuing efforts to improve mobility, shorten travel time, and create a safer and more efficient road network for Cagayan de Oro residents. (Ben Balce, Editorial Lead)
