By Bingo Alcordo VENI, vidi, vici. I came, I saw, I conquered. Chevrolet  or Chevy for short, is out to conquer  Cagayan de Oro and the rest of Northern Mindanao with an array of worldenowned car and pick-up truck models that are suited for the consumers' needs in the area. In a dazzling display of confidence as to the viability of its wideange of products, Grand Cars Inc., the CDO exclusive dealer for Chevrolet, opened its display center or showroom at Kauswagan National Higway with key personalities from the banking and finacial institutions in attendance. Chevrolet, Philippines, which prefers to be called  The Covenant Car Company (TCCCI), exclusive importer and distributor of Chevrolet vehicles in the Philippines, showed its total support to Grand Cars Inc, with the presence of its senior corporate officers led by lawyer Alberto B. Arcilla, President  and Managing Director. Chevrolet never had it so good these days with its high visibility, thanks to the blockbuster  movie “Transformers” where most of General Motors' fleet of vehicles became instant animated heroes. Foremost is the 1966 Camaro race car whose prominent yellow-black color triggered a phenomenal rebirth as the new “Bumblebee.” Chevrolet passed the century mark last year from its humble beginnings in Detroit, Michigan in 1911. It was known then as Chevrolet  Motor Company before General Motors (GM) acquired it in 1918. Under the tutelage of GM, new car models such as Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, Cadillac, and Corvette bacame household names. Today, Chevrolet boasts of its most prominent full-size truck with the best highway fuel economy, in the Chevrolet Silverado model. Grand Cars Inc., under the able management of the father and son tandem of Peter U. Po and Jan Andrew Po, Corporate President and Vice President respectively, will intially inroduce the Chevrolet Trailblazer, the 2013 Sonic Sedan, and the captivating Captiva. And to make things more exciting, Chevrolet will show-case its latest pick-up truck with a five-year extended warranty––the innovative Colorado. After three years in operation, TCCCI finally came up with its decision to fully operate in Northern Mindanao after learning that Mindanaoans here were already apreciating their products and consumers were clamoring for a friendly dealer in the neighborhood. In the not so distant past, Chevrolet or Chevy was synonymous with the term “stateside.” Back then, when one was associated with being “stateside” or being a Chevy, no doubt about it, he or she was definitely the best. I guess it is still the case today.
