Balingasag, Misamis Oriental — This town’s police force was deployed but already packed up when the brutal killing of Argie Tresquio last week, the town’s police chief explained to the councilors.
On Monday’s session, Councilor Cristina Ociones, the presiding officer of the Sangguniang Bayan, raised the issue of police visibility across the municipality in connection to the brutal murder that occurred at the corner 15th Septiembre and Varquez Sts, last Monday.
Police Majo. Cecelio Orcullo told the town councilors that they had deployed police officers in the area but had already pulled out when the incident happened.
“Gawas pa, gibati napud gyud ang kakapoy,” said Orcullo, as he reechoed part of Mayor Alexis Quina’s speech during flag raising that there is no “super cop.”
However, Orcullo insisted that they conduct foot patrol and conducted mobile roving.
He added that it didn’t help that residents who witnessed the mauling did nothing to stop the melee.
