DIGOS City ― A 39-year-old electrician fell into the hands of the joint forces of anti-illegal drugs operatives following a buy-bust operation at about 10:29 pm on April 19.
Lt. Colonel Hamlet Lerios, Digos City police chief said the operating team composed of the local police intelligence unit, the regional police drug enforcement unit, and PDEA launched the sting operation at Purok-5A, along the Matti to Tiguman provincial road within Barangay Matti, Digos City and collared Elbert Sucayre Genunsalao, 39, a resident of Purok-7, Barangay Colorado, Digos City.
Categorized as Street-Level Individual-New Individual Drug Personality (SLI-NIDP), Genunsalao took the police bait during the transaction that led to his arrest, the police report said.
The police said they used a marked P1,000 bill to buy one heat-sealed transparent sachet believed to be containing ‘shabu’ which the money was recovered from the suspect's possession when he was frisked.
The report further said three more sachets of ‘shabu’ were seized from Genunsalao including a Black Android cellular phone (Oppo).
Genunsalao was brought to Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital (DSPH) for medical examination, after which transported to the Digos City police office, including all the evidence gathered during the operation for recording and proper disposition of the case.
The suspected ‘shabu’ weighs more or less 0.53 grams with an estimated street market value of P7,950 or just P3,604 as per Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) standard, Lerios said.
Genunsalao was placed under the custody of Digos City police that is in charge of filing charges for violation of RA-9165 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended.
