By LITO RULONA Correspondent FORMER Taglimao barangay chairman William Guialani has threatened to file charges Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin Uy and councilors for approving a P27-million budget to buy a property in Lumbia and for authorizing Mayor Oscar Moreno to make the deal with the landowner. Based on city hall’s plan, the property in Pahiron, Lumbia would be developed into a relocation area where hundreds of housing units would be built for survivors of the 2011 Typhoon Sendong devastation with the help of the Japanese government. The city council approved the P27.541 million to acquire the Lumbia property from the Gador family at P265 per square meter. Guialani alleged that the price was bloated. “Ngano P265 per square meter nga tag-P110 ra man ang zonal value diha sa Lumbia,” he said. Guialani said he was aware of the land value there because he has properties in Lumbia. “Tinonto kining ilang gihimo,” he said. Guialani said he has been consulting his lawyer about the possibility of bringing Uy and councilors to the Office of the Ombudsman. He said he was planning on including members of the city council majority in the lawsuit. “They just closed their eyes. Nitalaw na ang mga opposisyon.” Guialani has been filing charges against Mayor Oscar Moreno and other city hall officials. One of the cases he filed resulted in a ruling by the ombudsman that found Moreno and city treasurer Glenn Bañez guilty of grave misconduct in connection with the controversial tax settlement with Ajinomoto Philippines. Moreno has appealed the decision to dismiss and perpetually bar him from holding public office. Last week, Guialani was arrested because of a child abuse case but he bailed out for P200 thousand. He said the court’s order to have him arrested was “politically motivated” and that Moreno had a hand in it apparently to get back at him.
